Our Crafted By editions celebrate the art of bag making in England. Drawing on specialist knowledge, authentic skills and quality materials, each project sets out to create a definitive bag with a specific purpose in mind. These designs are ambitious, individual and crafted in limited numbers for true enthusiasts.

The Botanist x Millican Foragers Bag Edition 01

To forage is a simple, timeless act. Ten thousand short years ago, foraging was the only way of life for everybody and everything. We would have routinely searched the woods, hedgerows, riverbanks and seashores to add sustenance, seasonal variety and flavour to our farmed food.

Today, The Botanist rely on an expert foraging team to hand-pick, and harvest, the 22 ingredients augmented in each batch of gin, on the wild Hebridean Island of Islay, in Scotland.

With guidance from expert Forager Mark Williams, we developed, designed and hand-crafted a definitive Forager’s Bag in England.

Millican Dalton found his own way too – he lived in-tune with nature, foraging from the landscape around his cave. We can join Mark, Millican and others by looking at our local hedgerows and gardens in a different light.

A.WainWright x Millican Backpack Edition 02

Wainwright caught the spirit of the land, absorbed it through his footsteps and translated it with his pen. He stitched together waypoints, mapping paths for a hundred generations hence, interpreting the wonder he found. Wainwright wove a record of singular devotion, a unique dedication to craft and his Lakeland home. 7 books. 13 years. 214 fells.

For many, he will forever reside in the silent depths of Innominate Tarn, at the summit of Haystacks, a life writ large across the fells. Millican celebrates the unusual power of this commitment in a unique collaboration – A hand made backpack, made in the UK.

From old tracks north to Dundee, Halley Stevensons 12oz canvas forms the outer fabric, lined inside with Harris Tweed from the Isle of Lewis. Hand-finished, veg-tanned leather finds its way from Whitehouse Cox, in central England. All gathered and assembled, by hand, in Sheffield – a bag crafted from these Great British Isles.

From all four corners of the country we gathered a collective of makers, each for their own unparalleled skills. They brought their unique creativity and dedication to this project.
