Absolutely Brilliant Rucksack!

I really loved the look of the rucksack when I first got it, but wanted to use it a bit before I left a review, so this is my 3 month review. The rucksack is absolutely brilliant! I was looking for a hill walking rucksack that looked vintage and had that old school mountaineering canvas look but which would also work as a practical/functional bag. The bag has been brilliant up on the hills. I like how it has a removable waist strap for walks where I'm not carrying much. All the pockets are a generous size and the main part of the rucksack I'm sure takes a lot more than the literage it says. I also like how it increases in character the more I use it, adding to the old school look. I have had issues with the shoulder straps loosening when I have been out on longer walks, which was annoying at first. I have however found a solution by rolling up the excess end of the straps and securing them with Velcro, which has stopped them working themselves loose. We live in the west coast of Scotland and we get a lot of rain so I use I rucksack cover to protect it - although it is showerproof it needs a bit extra in downpours to stop the rain getting through. This bag has been all over the Cowal peninsula and I even took it with me on the West Highland Way only two weeks ago (which I think is the ultimate gear test!). Overall I would highly recommend this bag and look forward to using it on many more adventures. Plus it's a bonus to have a bag which shares my name, Fraser!

Great fabric, issue with hardwear

Really love this bag. Colour didn't match image but I much prefer the blueish slate grey. Fabric is very waterproof and has withstood many wet trips to work and various fells of the lake district. Waist strap is comfortable and fact that it is removable doesn't seem to diminish weight bearing integrity. A couple of issues though: some of the straps are unnecessarily long (I've use velcro strips to cinch up any excess length, though may trim and restich ends); side pockets behind expanding side pockets are not really useable when main body of the bag is fully packed (deep expanding side pockets do make up for this but makes the sheet of fabric between the external expanding pocket and main body of the bag redundant); pockets on waist strap will struggle with anything longer than a smaller iPhone when buckled up due to curve of belt and give in fabric and lastly but most importantly, I've found the buckles used to adjust the length of shoulder straps when the bag is fully loaded with full main body, water reservoir, etc. cannot deal with the weight and often slip. I think the could be remedied with a) wider strap webbing and b) different hardwear. A great lifestyle bag, though wouldn't consider this for anything more than a walking day trip or overnight with with transport.

Didn't last as long as Id hoped

I love everything about this backpack except for the bottom which would make contact with the ground. I wish they stitched an extra layer of protection there. I have the 25L and it's completely ripped apart at the bottom. I've used it plenty over the last 2 years so It definitely has some wear but I'm a bit disappointed that I only got a couple years out of it. Especially since my last Marmot bag lasted for 7 years.

Brilliant rucksack , great for adventures with the children

I bought this rucksack to use on days out with the children. I have a 5 yr old and 20 month old and was finding days out required my usual rucksack plus two extra bags! Now I can fit everything in here ( lunch boxes, spare clothes , toys, books , coats, a towel even!! With still having space for some bits from the shop on the way home. I also intend to use this as an overnight bag/camping bag when we do go camping etc. I love that it's waterproof and all the compartments /zip pockets are so useful! Only issue is I now want a smaller Millican for days out solo :joy:

Slight Niggle

Premium pricing for the backpack but was let down with the expanding "tape" on one of the external pockets. Looks like one side was not sewn in correctly so external side pocket does not close like the other side.

Good rucksack with, nice size,

Good rucksack with, nice size, well made, useful pockets. Colours do not seem to match well with photographs. The red one is less vibrant/more washed out looking than expected, the blue on is more of a dark grey-blue than it looked in photographs. Also the rucksack is a little uncomfortable at the shoulders.

Fashionable color, Practical style

This sack is very practical with large capacity yet convenient to use with separated assortments. I really love the color which matches in the nature during hiking, but also in the city for daily use.
