What a Weekend
I’m sure you’re aware that we’ve recently returned from a fantastic three days at Goodwood Revival. It’s a particular favourite in the calendar and I have to say, there’s no other event like it. It’s one of those that gets better every year.
We arrived Thursday morning, after a lengthy journey down from the Lakes the previous day. Setting up the stand, as usual, took the best part of the day – after three years of assembling our tented Millican environment we haven’t gained any speed whatsoever.
All was good, apart from a slight lapse in concentration that lead us to forget to pack Harry in Slate Green - DOH!
We set up camp and headed over to Chichester to catch up with our good friend John over a few beers and pizza.
Up with the birds on Friday morning, we were ready for action with the sun shining.
Although not compulsory, the vast majority of Revival visitors dress in period style, with many going to great lengths to achieve that authentic look. The resulting step-back-in-time spectacle plays a key role in making the Revival such a unique event.
Donning our familiar pith helmets and safari garb, we certainly attracted some attention from the crowd.
Additional evening entertainment had been added to the event this year, with Rock n’ Roll bands and Elvis impersonators providing much of the fun. Making the ideal location to unwind after a day on the stand and enjoy a beer with the visitors (Olivier and Pierre, apologies for the practical joke with the beers!).
Managing to slip away from the stand on Saturday afternoon, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Bonhams classic car auction. Being careful not to sneeze or twitch, I watched on as a classic Bentley got sold for £1.6 million. Just a little more than the Millican trailer cost us.
As always, it was great to see some familiar faces and also to share our story with so many new Millicanites. Check out our visual journey via Instagram as well.
