• Lamb Chops & Pannier Bags 25th Jul 2012

There’s been nearly as much said about Bradley Wiggins’s side burns as there has been about his epic Tour de France win.

And rightly so, any man that can pull off  lamb chops of that nature deserves some recognition.

Other side burns of particular note include…

    The King

    Wolverine

    Tipster, John McCririck

Bradley, you’re up there with the best of them.

It’s been just over three weeks since Wiggins made the ideal start to The Tour. Since then Team Sky pretty much dominated the peleton for the entirety of the Tour, with Cavendish winning the final stage again, a perfect finish.

For Bradley Wiggins to be the first Brit to win The Tour is something very special, the 2012 tour will no doubt be talked about for many years to come.

We all cycle at Millican, all 4 of us. Not quite up to “Le Tour” standard, but there are a few beasts of fells around here. Though we can distinguish a Shimano from a Campagnolo, we like cycling because of what it stands for – the freedom, the journey, the view from the top of the hill, free-wheeling down hill again.

Over the past few months we’ve started to develop our very own cycling collection, adding extra functionality to all our shoulder bags to make them more cycle friendly. The new year will see the introduction of  these features as well as new additions to our concise but growing collection. Watch this space for more news.

As you may know,  we called on the help of good friends Mike and John from Boneshaker Magazine to give us a hand on the development of our first Pannier Bag.

Ever keen to also involve our loyal customers in the development of our bags, we decided to post a question on our Facebook page asking for ideas and suggestions for our new pannier bag. The guys at Boneshaker agreed to review all the suggestions and offer a year’s free subscription to the publication, plus a hand screen printed Boneshaker T-shirt for the best suggestion.

We have been completely overwhelmed by the response to the competition, so many fantastic ideas. From a reinforced base to reflectors, from padded sleeves to a secure pocket for your helmet. So many wonderful ideas,  now pinned all over our inspiration board.

But as with The Tour de France, there has to just one winner.

Hugh Knowles’ combination of well thought out suggestions referring to a quick-click attachment/removal system and seperate pocket for bicycle tools was something that resonated with both us and the guys at Boneshaker.

So much so that Adam, our designer,  has already started sketching again.

We’ll be back with updates on the development of the Pannier Bag and the rest of the gang.

A big thanks for all your thoughts and ideas,  they are highly valued – feel free to keep them flowing our way. We can’t get enough of them.

So what are you waiting for? Your trusty 2-wheeled steed awaits.

    Happy cycling.
