MATERIALS WE USE

RECYCLED POLYESTER – WATER vs OIL
Dave the rucksack - polyester cover

Recycled polyester is clever stuff.  It’s made of recycled PET material (polyethylene terephthalate for the boffins), widely used in plastic bottles and other food packaging all over the world.  Using recycled polyester rather than virgin polyester cuts energy by 50%, saves 20% on water and reduces air pollution by 60%.

Our recycled polyester is 210D in weight with a PU800 waterproof coating.  Renowned textiles specialist HOYU in Taiwan uses post-consumer PET for this material called CYCLEPET, to give it its full title.

Recycled polyester is used where the material needs to be waterproof and easy to clean – for Dave, Jonathan, Peter, Les and Derek .

Running on empty – recycling one plastic bottle saves enough energy to light a 60W bulb for up to 6 hours.
